We are Inspired by the ancient and dynamic
heritage of Chinese martial culture.
Inspired by the ancient and dynamic heritage of Chinese martial culture, Modo Boon is defined by both its spirit and functional requirements.
Chinese martial arts can be extremely dynamic but unlike modern sports, martial arts are not just about performance, with as strong an emphasis being placed on spiritual development. In their most ideal form, martial arts are a gateway to self-knowledge and a tool for honing character. In keeping with this legacy, we strive to make clothing that can withstand the rigours of practice, while offering a contemporary, minimalist aesthetic that is shorn of the decorative.
In Chinese martial arts, we sometimes intentionally slow down movement, as in the performance of pre-arranged routines, in order to gain insights into our physical and spiritual being. This meditative experience leads to a heightened level of awareness where one becomes in tune with movement, and ultimately attains self-knowledge. This is the way of Tao.
‘Xing’ means ‘form’.
In Chinese martial arts it refers to the physical manifestation of movements.
‘Yi’ means ‘intent’ which is intangible but directs all movements.
